New information about the wild horses of the world! On wildhorsesandmustangs.com you can find a new article about the Kaimanawa Wild Horse. This wild horse lives in the Kaimanawa ranges in New Zealand. Due to a limited habitat every year many horses end up at the slaughter. The Kaimanawa ranges in the central north part of New Zealand is the habitat for 300 wild horses. This habitat offers unique nature and due to the limited area also limited fodder for animals.

Therefore the herd size cannot become bigger than 300 horses. The wild horse population is controlled by the Department of Conversation (DoC) which organises “musters” every year. In the musters the horses get rounded up and counted. Due to the great reproduction of the breed the herd size becomes too big and more than 140 horses get seperated from the herd every year. Normally their life then ends at the slaughter.

The Kaimanawa Heritage Horse (KHH) Trust takes care of these rejected horses. They try  to find a new owner and home for the horses. Through this they could already save the life of more than 600 horses. Generally every interested prospect has the possibility to buy a Kaimanawa Wild Horse.

On wildhorsesandmustangs.com you can find detailed information about the Kaimanawa Wild Horse, their habitat, the musters, the immunocontraception and the KHH Trust.
